Howard Opinsky Appointed Head of Washington, D.C. Office
WASHINGTON, D.C., 8 February 2012 – Hill+Knowlton Strategies announced today that Howard Opinsky has been appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Washington, D.C. office, effective March 1. Opinsky will focus on driving growth, enhancing client service and managing business operations for the D.C. office.
Opinsky is a veteran communications strategist and spokesperson who was most recently Managing Director of Global Corporate Communications at JPMorgan Chase & Co. While at JPMorgan Chase, Opinsky led a team of professionals to communicate the firm’s overall corporate performance, operations and corporate responsibility activities, along with conducting public affairs work to address legislative and regulatory issues that impacted the firm.

Prior to joining JPMorgan, Opinsky spent ten years as an executive vice president at Weber Shandwick where he led public affairs and corporate work for the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, Powell Tate. At Weber Shandwick, he counseled several Fortune 500 CEOs and other senior executives, advising them on corporate issues management, thought leadership and corporate strategy. He has also worked with several major corporations to develop and maximize their corporate social responsibility activities. His clients have included Bank of America, Cisco Systems, Mattel, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman, Siemens, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable and the governments of the United States and Colombia.
In addition to his corporate work, Opinsky served for more than a decades as a political communications strategist and spokesman for local, state and national political campaigns. He served as national press secretary for U.S. Senator John McCain’s (R-AZ) 2000 presidential campaign, a communication strategist at the National Senatorial Campaign Committee, and a media strategist and campaign operative for U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) and former U.S. Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX).
Opinsky holds a B.A in political communication from The George Washington University.
